Speed Bumps
A great solution for rings that don't fit due to small size differences. Small metal ridges are added to the ring interior, normally at a position of 4 and 8 o'clock on the shank. These allow the ring to ease on and off and 'lock' the ring in position on the hand. Application often involves resizing.

- The ring goes over the knuckle and sits relatively well on the finger, but still spins around
- Knuckle to finger size difference is no more than 2 full UK sizes

Advantages
- Solution will stop ring spin and is least invasive for existing ring settings
- Comfortable to wear when skilfully applied
- Ring still easy to put on
- Offers flexibility for fingers that are heat sensitive when the ring is being worn
- Most cost effective solution
Drawbacks
- Not as effective when size difference passes 2.5 UK finger sizes. More metal is required and ring can start to dig into knuckle or push into fingers each side
- Depending on the shape of ridge applied, this can cause discomfort
- Original engravings and hallmarks can be lost using this technique because of the metal application
