Advantages
- Brilliant for those with larger knuckles or those concerned knuckles may grow, as there is some room for adjustment
- No tools required to open and close the ring, and the setting is very secure
- Looks good as a wedding or engagement ring
- Hinging is very discreet
- Ring is adjustable to open half a size - great if finger swells sometimes
- Robust and serviceable
Drawbacks
- For those with a knuckle size differential larger than 5 UK sizes, the ring may still not go over
- Over half of the ring shank has to be replaced with hinge.
- Wedding rings can't be fully remodelled
- For those with very delicate or sensitive skin, removing the ring could cause discomfort
- Recommended to have the hinge checked every 18 months to 3 years to ensure it's working smoothly
