Advantages
- Works for those with larger knuckles or those concerned knuckles may grow, as there is some room for adjustment
- No tools required to open and close the ring, and the setting is very secure
- Looks good as a wedding or engagement ring
- Hinging is very discreet and ring is adjustable to open half a size if finger is swollen
Drawbacks
- For those with a knuckle size differential larger than 8 UK sizes, the ring may still not go over
- The entire ring shank has to be replaced — expensive for wedding rings
- Wedding rings can't be fully remodelled
- For those with delicate skin or sensitivity, removing the ring may cause discomfort
