Jewellery Remodelling Case Study #8 - Rings to Earrings

A Diamond Half Eternity Ring and a Posy Ring

No items found.
Piece: A diamond half eternity ring and a posy ring
Activity: Use stones to create pair of art deco inspired earrings
Materials: Diamonds and platinum

Our client had several diamond rings which she was attached to, but not wearing. So she looked to jewellery remodelling for a solution.

It was an interesting challenge, given that we were managing princess (square shape) diamonds, baguettes and rounds.  My client was looking for something which she was going to be able to wear a lot, she didn’t want drops either.

Going through a few of her jewellery preferences, it became clear she liked sleek, clean looking settings.  So we conceptualised but removing the diamonds from the rings, and making them into earring configurations.  From here we drew up a more accurate concept.

Once our client was happy, the earrings were made, entirely by hand.  We were really pleased with the clean crisp lines and finishing our goldsmiths managed to create.  Alpha backs on the studs ensured that they weren’t going to come out in a hurry, and platinum meant that there was less chance of skin irritation.

Oh, and the earrings get a lot of comments – all good (a few, envious)...
